Geoffrey's Makeover

Geoffrey's Story  -  Racine Dream Team Makeover 2018

Congratulations to Officer Geoffrey McLendon!

Geoff came to us as a new patient late last Fall, and I will never forget my first day meeting him.  Although in a casual uniform, I remember asking Geoff “Is that a taser?”.  We then joked and I assured him his initial exam would be gentle. :)

After a close friend heard of our Dream Team Hometown Heroes Makeover, he nominated Geoff with highest regards.  Geoff was described as “one of the most reliable and trustworthy friends I have met”.  His nomination went on to describe a strong character, putting concerns of others before his own, and always willing to offer a helping hand.

From an early age it was known Geoff would be in the criminal justice field.  While in high school he participated in the Police Explorers program in Canton, Ohio as well as ride-alongs with several police officers in the city of Canton.

For the past four years, Geoff has been a police officer with the city of Racine.  Before becoming a police officer in Racine, he was a police officer in Madison, Wisconsin.  In May 2016, Geoff was awarded the Life Saving Award for responding and saving the life of a woman who was stabbed numerous times.  He was also awarded an Award of Excellence in May 2016 for bringing down a biker gang the city of Racine was unaware of.

Currently Geoff is giving back to the Racine community by not only serving on its police force but by participating on the community policing unit.  The unit is geared toward helping residents of Racine and bridging the gap between the community and police department.

It was clear after reading Geoff’s nomination how deserving he was of consideration.   Dental health is something many take for granted and is not universally available.  We are so happy to have the opportunity to give back to such a deserving person.

We have completed a thorough dental exam, developed a treatment plan, and will continue to post updates regarding his progress.

I would like to extend a thank you to Popp Dental Lab who has offered to donate necessary dental lab work.  Dr. Mary Ballard of OFP Surgical Arts will also be donating her surgical services.  Other local businesses will be participating in donating other services as well as some wonderful gifts.

Stay tuned for more progress!
Warmest regards,
Dr. Kirchner
